Thing 7

Chat reference would be popular with some people. I talked about my feelings about e-mail and chat in Thing 6.
I like the idea of Meebo in the NO results found part of the catalog. Makes it less of a dead end.
Guess I'm not really into Twitter at this point but it could be fun for "news" New Janet Evanovich book has been ordered. Let the Holds begin. :)
I'm frustrated by trying to be "social" when others are not available. Nobody to chat with but I can now know what ICHCheezburger is up to .

Thing 6

E-mail is used for a great deal of the communication at MCPL. Outlook randomly assigns things to junk mail and I get a ton of junk mail. I love my gmail account, I don't have to remove the spam all the time the way I do with my outlook account. I wish more people would read the email ettiquette article. I find e-mail reference frustrating because of the inability to ask a follow up question. Maybe that would be better with IM.
I tried IM and could see how it could be useful to communicate discretely with another librarian while on the desk but we aren't usually logged on and ready for IM.
I've been to webinars and find them not very satisfying but I usually learn something so I guess that's good enough. Little effort to get to them and some return for my time.
The Google groups aren't very attractive visually but I could see that they could be useful ways to spread information among people who are not in the same area.
